We were asked by the head of facilities management at Channel Four to submit a feasibility study proposal (in competition) for the refurbishment of a property owned by them in Charlotte Street, W1. The building was to become the headquarter building for FilmFour. It was to include a reception/meeting/relaxation area, a 32 seat preview cinema and 1500 m² (16,000 ft²) of offices. It had been established that, in addition to the proposed interior fit-out, it would also be necessary to replace the external facades on two elevations

Our initial sketch scheme design was accepted and we were commissioned to prepare detailed construction drawings in order to obtain tenders for the work.

The contract of £ 3,500,000 was let and construction work commenced on site. The facades were completely removed and replaced and an acoustically independent piled structure was inserted into the basement and ground floor to form the cinema enclosure above.

We acted as lead consultants for the 9 month duration of the contract.
